LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled RN for our Newborn Nursery Postpartum team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, family-centered care to postpartum patients and their newborns in a full-service tertiary hospital recognized for advanced specialty and surgical services. You will perform clinical assessments, administer medications, monitor vital signs, support breastfeeding and lactation, and educate new parents on newborn care, safety, and postpartum recovery. The RN will collaborate closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and the broader interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring safe transitions from delivery to the postpartum unit and through discharge. Responsibilities include performing newborn assessments, identifying and responding promptly to changes in maternal or infant condition, assisting with deliveries as needed, following evidence-based protocols, and maintaining accurate, thorough documentation in the electronic health record. You will uphold infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to a calm, supportive environment for families during this important life event. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide empathetic emotional support and education to diverse patient populations.
