LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a dedicated RN Mother Baby Postpartum nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to mothers and newborns during the immediate postpartum period through discharge. You will perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, manage pain control, administer medications, and support recovery following vaginal and cesarean births. You will educate parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleep practices, and postpartum self-care, ensuring families feel confident and prepared for transition home. Collaborating closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other interdisciplinary team members, you will help develop and implement individualized care plans that reflect patient needs, preferences, and evidence-based standards. You will use your clinical judgment to recognize and respond to changes in maternal or neonatal condition, escalate concerns promptly, and assist with emergency interventions when necessary. Documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient education will be completed accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. In alignment with LewisGale Medical Center’s culture of compassionate care, teamwork, and professional development, you will foster a supportive, family-centered environment, actively participate in unit huddles and quality initiatives, precept or mentor newer staff as needed, and pursue ongoing education to maintain current postpartum and neonatal best practices.
