Payroll Specialist

A reputable organization in the Greensboro area is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a contract or contract-to-hire opportunity. This role will support accurate, timely payroll processing and is ideal for someone who can step in quickly and make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly or biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Review and validate timecards, pay rates, deductions, and garnishments
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Respond to employee payroll-related questions
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with reconciliations
• Support year-end payroll tasks as needed (W-2s, audits, tax reporting)
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience
• Strong understanding of payroll laws and compliance
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
