Senior Applications Developer (COBOL)

Are you a seasoned developer with strong COBOL experience looking to make an impact in a stable, business-critical environment? We are partnering with a leading financial services organization to bring on a Senior Applications Developer to support and enhance core insurance and investment systems.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop, test, and maintain applications supporting core financial and insurance systems
• Write, debug, and optimize COBOL-based programs and supporting technologies
• Analyze system requirements and implement efficient, scalable solutions
• Modify and enhance existing applications to improve performance and functionality
• Partner with business users to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Document code, processes, and system procedures for ongoing support
• Provide regular updates on project progress and deliverables
• Participate in on-call support rotation for production systems

What We Are Looking For

Core Skills:

• Strong experience with COBOL development
• Experience in SQL and working with relational databases
• Background in actuarial systems, insurance, or financial services
• General understanding of accounting principles
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica

Nice to Have:

• Experience with LifePRO
• Exposure to Visual Basic, Btrieve, or legacy system environments

Qualifications

• 4 or more years of experience in application development including coding, testing, and debugging
• At least 1 year of experience supporting systems within finance, investments, or insurance
• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
