Overview:

These modernization efforts positively impact how VA delivers care to Veterans. OHIL strives to provide high quality, effective, and efficient services to those responsible for providing care to Veterans at all the points of the Veterans’ health care experience in an effective, timely and compassionate manner.

The Resuscitation Education and Innovation (REdI) program, organizationally aligned with the VHA Simulation Learning, Evaluation, Assessment, and Research Network (SimLEARN) under the OHIL, is the official VHA national program to provide oversight and standardization of a robust resuscitation portfolio in accordance with VHA Directive 1177, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The REdI program has primary oversight and compliance of all field-based resuscitation training in addition to delivering a standardized, simulation based training program and consultative, focused quality reviews related to the delivery of care and the medical emergency care process.

The Contractor shall provide two (2) contracted members, as subject matter experts in clinical nursing practice, to perform the mandatory tasks and provide the specific deliverables described below within the performance period stated in this Performance Work Statement (PWS). The contracted member will be an existing American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts classes with and for interprofessional instructors and learners of the Veterans Health Administration clinical staff.
  • Expert in clinical nursing practice; experienced with and uses approved curricula as well as the latest in clinical simulation.
  • Support simulation activities to identify latent hazards as well as risk identification, classification, and reporting.
  • Evaluates current practice and assists with formulating plans for the evaluation of course outcomes.
  • Travel will be required - no more than two five-day trip monthly to locations within the continental U.S.

  • Requires monthly travel (12 events / year)

  • System Testing

  • Conducts simulation-based activities
  • Evaluates latent safety hazards to include identification, classification and reporting of hazard
  • Evaluates the environment and delivery of care to assist with recommendations for performance improvement
  • Administrative support for program implementation
  • Requires bi-monthly travel (6 events / year)

Minimum Requirements:

  • The member will be an existing American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
